Nonsense Talks pairs adults (18+) for short, live video conversation games. This page explains what we collect, how it's used, and who processes it. It's a starting policy for our invite beta and we'll expand it before a wider launch.
What we collect
- Account: your email, a display name, and a confirmation that you're 18+. If you sign in with Google, we receive the email and name on that Google account.
- Gameplay: during games we convert what you say into text (a transcript). We store transcripts, the peer ratings you give, and AI-generated analysis of your conversations.
- Call recording: the live call (video and audio) is recorded for safety and moderation — it's how we can act on reports of abuse. Recordings are encrypted with our own keys on our own infrastructure, reviewed only for a report or safety investigation, never used to train AI models, and deleted automatically after 30 days. Using Nonsense Talks means agreeing to this. You can ask us to delete your recordings sooner at any time.
How we use it
- To run the service — matching you with a partner and running the games.
- Automated analysis & safety: transcripts are analyzed by AI to score gameplay and to detect abusive content (which can automatically pause a session).
- To improve the service over time.
Who processes your data
We share the minimum needed with the vendors below. They receive only one session's content at a time — never a profile of you across sessions, and never your identity. Where a vendor offers it, we use terms that keep your data out of their model training.
- LiveKit — carries the live audio/video and delivers the call recordings to our own encrypted storage.
- Deepgram — converts speech to text.
- Anthropic and OpenAI — AI analysis and safety checks.
- Resend — sends account emails.
- Sentry — error monitoring.
- Google — sign-in, if you choose it.
Storage & security
Conversation content, messages, and account email are encrypted at rest.
Retention & your choices
We keep conversation data (transcripts, ratings, AI classifications) to operate and improve the service. Call recordings are kept for at most 30 days, then deleted automatically. You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and its data by emailing us. You can also block another user at any time, which stops you being matched with them.
